Winter Storm 2006 and 2007

Just before Christmas of 2006, not even letting Jessica finish her final exams for the semester, the Storm of 2006 hit on December 20th. This storm ended up dumping 33 inches in Highlands Ranch, pretty much closing down the area, including Denver. DIA closed and was closed for many days, stranding 3000 people at first. That 3000 ended up being almost 5000 people before it started declining. The Red Cross and National Guard were called in.

This storm was followed by another storm a week later that dumped another 18 inches in Highlands Ranch, then followed by yet another storm dumping another 8 inches.

On the second storm, our neighbor brought in his Case tractor and helped remove much of the snow from driveways, sidewalks, and the street on our end of the block. He dumped it on the two empty lots across from our house. This made a fun play area for the kids who played on these mounds for days.

January 13th weekend, we were to have another snow, but it ended up only being about 4 to 5 inches of very fluffy snow. What we did get was very cold temperatures. Friday and Saturday highs were in the single digits. Sunday and Monday it made it to the teens.

The following are pictures throughout the last couple of weeks. Because of the cold temperatures, 4 weeks later, things still don't look much different:
